Our Community

Loy Yang B has been a part of the Latrobe Valley community since 1993. We are committed to supporting the community in which we live and work, maintaining strong connections, and making a positive difference for organisations that contribute to our society and environment. Our community partnership program doesn’t only provide funding for worthwhile activities and events – we seek to form lasting relationships with the groups and organisations which run them and get involved in these activities wherever possible. It also helps fulfil our social responsibility to the local community.

Community Volunteering

We give our people an extra day of leave each year to volunteer with charities and organisations which are close to their hearts. If you’re a not-for-profit who would like assistance with an activity in the Latrobe Valley or Gippsland community, please get in touch with us at sponsorship@loyyangb.com.

Here’s some of our recent activities:

A Better Life for Foster Kids

Our Reliability and Planning Team assisted the volunteers from A Better Life for Foster Kids with some much-needed renovations to their storage facility. The wish list of jobs was large, but sheer determination saw the team complete the list.

“What an amazing group of people! Everyone was so keen and eager to do as much as possible for us. We loved walking in this morning to such a fresh look. We really can’t thank them enough” – ABLFFK founder Heather Baird.

Traralgon Railway Reserve

One of our maintenance teams spent the day assisting the Traralgon Railway Reservoir Conservation Reserve committee with activities to keep the reserve beautiful, including clearing stairs and gutters, cleaning and oiling a deck, painting benches, and installing new seats in the park.

“A very productive special day with a pleasant and competent crew. It lifted the spirits with so much done. We look forward to doing this again” – TRRCR committee member Gary Deane.

Morwell Neighbourhood House Repair Cafe

Our Engineers helped the Morwell Neighbourhood House revive its Repair Café, assisting to bring new life to preloved items.

“The feedback on their support of the event and participation was brilliant…we look forward to them being involved on a regular basis” – Morwell Neighbourhood House Manager Tracie Lund.
